FERPA Training Opportunities

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, commonly known as FERPA, is a federal law that governs educational records. It grants specific rights to students and regulates how institutions must handle educational records, including grades. The main focus of FERPA is to give students rights to view their records and to protect against disclosures of certain information without consent or specific legal authorization.

The Office of the Registrar is offering training sessions on:

  • FERPA
  • University Student Record Security Policies

Campus FERPA sessions have been scheduled for the following dates and times

  • Friday, March 14, 2008  8:00 AM - 9:50 AM, 66 Library
  • Tuesday, April 1, 2008  2:00 PM - 4:00 PM 66 Library

UIUC faculty/staff with access to student data are encouraged to attend. No reservations are required.
