Does service in the military count as college credit?
Yes, students with at least six months of continuous active duty and an honorable discharge or transfer to the reserve component are eligible for four semester hours of lower-division military science credit. This credit counts toward admission for transfer students, but may not be recognized for degree credit by all campus colleges. Students should submit their DD-214 form and certificate(s) of work completed while in the service for evaluation.

What is course articulation?
The process of determining transferability of courses from outside institutions based upon approved Board of Trustees policy published in the Programs of Study catalog.
How do I know whether a course that a student completed at another institution transfers to Illinois?
Courses are not evaluated until a student applies for admission. However, transferable course information is displayed biannually prior to the transfer application process each semester. The searchable
course articulation database
"snap shot" may be accessed on the web.
How do I find out whether a transfer course will satisfy a student's degree requirements?

What is the
Transfer Handbook
?
It is a web publication updated annually containing recommended course sequences for prospective transfer students. It lists courses that "native" freshmen and sophomores take at Illinois to prepare for their junior year.
What courses must be completed prior to transferring?
Required courses are highlighted in bold in the
Transfer Handbook
and must be completed prior to the term of admission for a student to be eligible for a specific degree program.
May students request a second review of a course if they are not granted transfer credit for admission?
A student may submit a course syllabus and/or outline for the term the course was completed and it will be reviewed for possible retroactive transfer credit.
