Nondegree and Degree Applicants
If you are interested in taking courses as a part-time nondegree undergraduate student, you will need to fill out the nondegree application.
If you are interested in taking courses as a part-time degree-seeking undergraduate student, you need to get prior permission from the college office to allow you to attend part-time and approve the coursework for a degree. If approved, you will still need to fill out the nondegree application.
If you have previously attended the University of Illinois as a nondegree student for the fall or spring term or as a degree seeking student, you do not need to submit a nondegree application. You will need to contact the college office which offers the courses in which you are interested. If you previously attended the University of Illinois as a nondegree student for the summer term only, you do not need to submit another application if you wish to enroll for the summer term only. You will be authorized to register for the summer.
If you are planning to attend full-time, you should apply as a degree-seeking student and fill out the undergraduate application.
Course enrollment requires the approval of the department offering the course and the college of enrollment at the beginning of each semester. Please note the Colleges of Applied Health Sciences, Business, Media, and Education and the Institute of Aviation do not consider nondegree applicants.
Due to limited space, preference for nondegree admission will be given to (1) employees of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, (2) applicants who are permanent residents of the Champaign-Urbana community, and (3) applicants who are trying to take courses that are not offered anywhere else in the state of Illinois. Please read the complete nondegree application for other restrictions.
Due to space limitations for admission and due to government regulations on student visas, international students are unable to apply for nondegree admission for the fall and spring terms. However, international students are able to apply for nondegree admission for the summer term.
July 31 is the deadline for fall 2008 non-degree applications. Non-degree applications from University of Illinois employee are accepted through August 25.
Prior to enrolling, employees should discuss with their supervisors any arrangements that will be necessary for course(s) taken during working hours.
Once you have obtained approval from your employing department, have been accepted by Admissions and Records, and have been given a seat in the class by the teaching department; your tuition and fees are waived, provided your payroll information is current.
