Deferred FAQ

  1. What does being deferred mean?
    • We would like to take the time to further review your application in order to make an accurate decision based on space availability in the college to which you applied. Though a final decision has not been made, be assured we recognize your strong academic credentials and your application is very important to us.
  2. When will I hear a decision?
    • All students (with the exception of those applying to programs in the performing and visual arts) will receive a decision by February 15. Students in the performing and visual arts will receive a decision by March 15.
  3. Should I send letters of recommendation or mid-semester grades?
    • No. We base our decision on the required information submitted with your application. Do not send additional information as it will not be factored into the decision and only delay the review process.
  4. Should I switch my application to another major where I feel I may have a better chance of being admitted?
    • If you answered "yes" to the application question regarding being considered for other related majors including undeclared in the Division of General Studies, then you will be considered for all avenues of admission. To verify that you selected this option, please check your application status.
  5. If I call the Admissions Office will a counselor be able to tell me what my chances are of being admitted?
    • No. Admission decisions are made by review committees. No one individual will be able to determine what your chances are of being admitted.
