College of Fine and Applied Arts (FAA) Summer Programs
WHAT: Studio design projects, seminars, demonstrations, slide presentations, films, and field trips give students hands-on experience and the knowledge of what will be expected of them in college and the profession
WHO: high school juniors and seniors and beginning college students
WHEN: Session 1: June 15-28, 2008; Session 2: July 13-26, 2008
WHAT: Comprehensive and intensive music instruction program; 18 different camps designed to challenge musicians of varying degrees in musical skills and development
WHO: Junior and senior high school students
WHEN: First Session: June 15-21, 2008 (Senior Bands, Senior Chorus, Senior Orchestra and Strings, Advanced Piano, Musical Theatre); Second Session: June 22-28, 2008 (Junior Bands, Double Reed, Senior Flute, Junior Orchestra and Strings, Piano, Senior Trombone); Third Session: July 6-12, 2008 (Junior Bands, Junior Chorus, Junior Jazz, Senior Jazz, Percussion, Junior Piano, Senior Saxophone, Junior Trombone
WHAT: Students become part of the production crew helping with props, set pieces, and costumes during the run of the season. Students take five weeks of classes covering such topics as storytelling, the history of masks in the theatre, mask-making techniques, and acting for the camera. The interns develop their own play that is performed the last weekend of Summerfest.
