What do you like most about your major?
I like economics because it impacts everyone, whether they realize it or not. Studying this field helps me to better understand the complex world in which we live.

What are your favorite courses within your major?
I really enjoyed International Economics with Professor Baer and
Development Economics with Professor Clark. I'm particularly interested in international affairs and both of these courses address the global aspects of economics. Both professors have fascinating life experiences to share with the class, which made the topics more tangible and more interesting.

What are your favorite extracurricular activities related to your major?
I have participated in a number of study abroad experiences related to my major, including two trips to Brazil to study the economic environment. Most recently, I visited Burkina Faso in West Africa to study the impacts of a variety of development projects and to examine the structure of nongovernmental organizations.

What are your favorite extracurricular activities not related to your major?
I spend an hour each week with 4th grade students as a mentor with TALKS Mentoring. I really enjoy it because it gives me an opportunity to make a difference.

Describe your most memorable experience at Illinois.
It is the first time I ran onto the field for a pre-game performance with the Marching Illini. It was absolutely exhilarating to be a part of something I had watched and enjoyed for so long. The atmosphere of the crowd was incredible.

What is a little-known fact about Illinois?
I'm always amazed at how connected Illinois is with the rest of the world. I've been on several study abroad trips during my undergraduate career and I'm constantly impressed to find out how much of an impact our University has on the international community. Not only that, but we, as students, have endless opportunities.

Why do you belong at Illinois?s
The University of Illinois has something for everyone. The
sheer size can seem overwhelming, but the large student body is what makes it really easy to find your own niche here.

* When Brock was accepted to the College of Business in 2003, economics was a major in the College of Business. Economics is no longer offered in Business but is a major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
