What do you like most about your majors?
I enjoy how the accountancy professors teach candidly about practical, real-life problem solving. As an English major, I get to read and discuss literature and philosophy: it changes the way I look at the world. I’ve yet to have an English class that hasn’t been thought-provoking and worthwhile.
What are your favorite courses within your major?
In accountancy, I really enjoy audit and research courses because they engage students and include topics not commonly associated with accounting. English 200: Critical Approaches to Literature changed my perspective of literary criticism and became my foundation for understanding literature.
Describe your most memorable experience at Illinois.
One night I participated in a coffee crawl sponsored by the Campus Honors Program. It gave me the chance to prepare for a full night of studying while associating with fellow caffeine addicts!
Why do you belong at Illinois?
I love being surrounded by down-to-earth people who share an interest in expanding their preconceived notions and learning, for themselves, what the world consists of.
