The thrilling opportunities it gives me to learn about the world and to write about it objectively. Journalism allows me to become an expert in many fields…and quickly. The faculty is also outstanding and extremely supportive.

What are your favorite courses within your major?

Journalism 420: News Editing and Journalism 411: Law & Communications are my favorites because both courses are challenging and have taught me to look at things from a critical perspective. News Editing taught me to be assertive and sharpened my attention to detail.

Writing my first article for the Daily Illini. It was an accomplishment for me. And the satisfaction that came with it? Unmatched. Having something published for the first time is such a cool thing.
