Illinois Loyalty

Hello Future Illini,

"Illinois Loyalty" is a phrase that is used very often here on campus. You see it on posters, shirts, wristbands, and other merchandise. Defining this term is difficult because it means so many different things to all of the members of the Illini family - both past and present. I can, however, tell you a little bit about what it has meant to me during my short time here as an undergraduate.

Illinois Loyalty means going to every home football game, whether we’re losing or winning, proudly sporting your orange and blue gear. It is feeling the hurt of the athletic teams when they lose and the sense of accomplishment when they win. Illinois Loyalty is feeling proud when hearing about the accomplishments of our distinguished alumni and knowing that you will impact the world someday, just as they have. Illinois Loyalty is recognizing that the four years you spend here will fly by, but graduation will not be the end, because you will always be apart of the Illini family. Illinois Loyalty is knowing that one day you will be back on campus in your orange alumni sweatshirt reconnecting with your fellow alumni, while watching a new generation of students continue the Illinois Loyalty tradition.

Hope to see you soon!
