Intramural Sports
Hello Future Illini,
Picture this: It’s a beautiful fall night and the weather is perfect for a flag football game at the Multiplex under the lights. Game One of the playoffs for the Busdrivers, my co-recreational flag football team is about to begin. We are all fired up, decked out in our yellow shirts, yellow high socks, and eye-black, ready to compete with some of the best in the league. We are there to win, but if we’re honest with ourselves, we know that it’s all about the coveted Intramural Championship t-shirt.
The intramural sports program is one of the foundations of the University of Illinois’ Recreation programs. With many options for both team sports and individual events, college students at the University of Illinois can still compete at the amateur level against the best competition. There are different sports each semester, with 20 options available throughout the scholastic year. Intramurals are a great way to form new friendships and stay active enough to avoid the “Freshman 15.” Form a team, create a cool name, and get ready to participate in some intense competition for the Intramural Championship t-shirts!
