Registration

Summer Registration is a vital step to enrolling at Illinois. Below, learn what you can accomplish at the program and how to pick the program that is right for you.

Summer Registration Programs

During this one-day program, you will meet with your college representative, current students, and fellow classmates. You will also:

  • Meet with an advisor to map out your academic strategy and select fall classes.
  • Learn more about the University’s academic standards and professors’ expectations.
  • Become familiar with the various student support services.
  • Receive your student identification card (I-card).

Choosing a Registration Program

You will be able to select your Summer Registration Program online beginning Monday, February 25.  You must have accepted your offer of admission and claimed and set your NetID and NetID password.

When selecting your Summer Registration Program, make sure you compare the date for possible conflicts with your own calendar. While you can make changes to your Summer Registration Program date up to one week in advance of the program you select, please note that it will be difficult to switch to another Summer Registration Program once one is selected, and we do not guarantee that a change can be made.

  • If a particular Summer Registration Program is important to you, visit www.istart.uiuc.edu early.
  • If the Summer Registration Programs offered do not accommodate your schedule, please contact New Student Programs at 217.333.9571 to learn of other possible arrangements.
  • If you or a family member will require disability related assistance at Summer Registration, please indicate this when you select a Summer Registration Program online.

Music Auditions

The School of Music offers enrollment for credit in all of its many bands, choruses, orchestras, and jazz bands. Such enrollment is available by audition only, and such auditions should take place as early as possible. This is especially true with the University Bands: auditions take place primarily during Summer Registration. If you wish to audition for any ensemble, please check this option when you select your Summer Registration date. Please remember that if you have been admitted to a music program within the College of Fine and Applied Arts, you do NOT need to audition at Summer Registration. For additional information about the School of Music and to learn more about our ensembles, please visit www.music.uiuc.edu.

When selecting a Summer Registration date online, be sure to check the audition option to schedule an audition and receive further information.
